Artist Bio

Linda Bigness is an internationally exhibited artist who
maintains a studio in Syracuse, New York. Her work has been exhibited in several prestigious solo and group shows that have involved notable jurors such as art critic Clement Greenberg, Ivan Karp, and Tom Piche, the director of the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art. In addition, Bigness’ paintings
have often been commissioned for corporate and residential clients, including the Turning Stone Resort, Merrill Lynch Corporation, Haylor, Freyer & Coon, and Bausch & Lomb.

Presently she is working on her latest book about abstract art and the contemporary processes used by working artists today. Part of the research is taken from the workshops she teaches. For over 30 years Bigness has used her expertise to share with
others the unique beauty and processes of her chosen medium through writing, teaching and professional exhibits.

Artist Statement

"As an artist, I observe the world through a unique lens, relying upon memory, perception, and past experience to interpret reality through an abstract aesthetic. In this body of work, my creative process focused on two distinct images, the man-made and the natural.

Our environment is in a constant state of change and will appear differently to those populating our world one hundred years from now. My purpose is to preserve what I experience when observing our world and to present an aesthetic understanding of the abstract through the manipulation of paint and surface.

Whether it is man-made or part of our natural world, there is a subtle beauty to be found in the deterioration of our environment. As I pass through this world and take in the layers of destruction and renewal, I use my creative output to give the world hope and a sense of understanding for what is
already a part of our reality."

This piece is a 20" x 20" original artwork.
