Artist Bio:
Lithuania native Alina began her journey in glass art at the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts, mastering techniques such as blown glass, fusing, etching, casting, and stained glass under Valmantas Gutauskas, apprentice of the acclaimed Dale Chihuly. She furthered her studies in art history at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München, drawing inspiration from Franz Klein, Egon Schiele, and Gustav Klimt. After traveling extensively, she settled in Connecticut in 2010. Alina blends traditional techniques with modern experimentation, producing works that honor her formal training while embracing contemporary creativity. Her preferred medium is mirror, which she manipulates with acids and paint to create reflective, dynamic compositions that interact with light and surroundings.

Artist Statement:

"There are two things that fascinate me when working with mirrors: that my 'canvas' is a challenging surface with which to work, and the introduction of a finished piece into a new environment. Each new space or angle engages the viewer; reflections of light or rooms become a part of the piece. In a way, these mirror paintings are never-ending creations.
